The whole process from enquiry to purchase, training and now using the gear was outstanding. We had plans for a second set but had to chop it off in a budget cull. We will definitely get another full set next financial year. Our team loves Mahu and he is far more than just a "sales person" to them. Thank you for the relational way you do business and for the great products!

Why Evolution Archery? Why not just buy some gear and run it ourselves?

Over the years, we’ve seen a lot of well-intentioned schools and camps try to introduce archery-style activities on their own. But without clear guidance, it’s easy to end up with equipment that isn’t quite right—or in some cases, not safe at all.

There’s a wide range of gear out there, and not all of it is suited to the energy, numbers, and conditions you find in real-world programs. Some setups look the part, but we’ve seen firsthand how things like bow strength, arrow design, or face protection can make a huge difference to both safety and student confidence.

At Evolution Archery, we’ve tested countless equipment combinations in actual school and camp environments. Everything we supply has been chosen because it performs well under pressure, holds up over time, and keeps your participants protected.

It’s not just about having fun—it’s about delivering a program you can trust, backed by systems and support that work for educators and facilitators.

Why Camps Love Evolution Archery

  • Inclusive, team-based gameplay for students of all ages and skill levels

  • Easy for your staff to run confidently after training

  • Designed for large groups and adaptable to your space

  • Proven success with over 100 schools and camps across Australia

How Evolution Archery Was Born

Kia ora, I’m Mahu — the founder of Evolution Archery.

I’m proudly Ngāti Kahungunu, and my Māori heritage has always shaped the way I approach learning, connection, and community.

Back in 2018, after playing a version of this game in Brisbane, I returned home to the Sunshine Coast thinking: “Why can’t we play this here?”

At the time, I was working in outdoor education, running school camps, and I saw immediately how this could be implemented as a structured activity. But there was no gear, no framework, and no guidance.

So I started from scratch.

I sourced equipment, experimented with different game modes, and began building something that was more than just fun—it had to have outcomes. Teamwork, courage, connection, decision-making. Something that would speak to the group in front of me.

Over the years, I’ve developed every part of the program:
Session plans for ages from Prep through to adults.
Briefings that educators can relate to.
Games that are inclusive, fast-paced, and curriculum-aligned.

Today, Evolution Archery is trusted by over 100 schools and camps across Australia.
Now, I’m proud to bring it to New Zealand—and launch the first ever Evolution Archery training day.

Ngā mihi nui,
Mahu Powell - Founder, Evolution Archery
